I think this is really well and fluently written, appreciated reading until the end. As you had some difficult experiences with extremes involving alcohol I can understand your vision.

For me personally, it is better to seek a balance then to be ‘attached to non attachment’.. I like drinking alcohol, just like I like eating meat and I see no reason to avoid the things I enjoy.

However, we all know the story about ‘the little things’ in life. This applies to all kinds of earthily pleasures. If you enjoy them in small amounts with appropriate intervals, the reward is so much greater. Going into extremes only leaves you longing for more. And it is putting massive preasure

But you touch upon a valid point that currently there is a culture of extremes. But let’s take a step back, is this not a problem that is grabbing the world on all domains now? It is not only alcohol. Let’s take politics, stock markets, work/life balance ethics, company culture(you can sleep when you are dead ;) ), traffic… . They are all leaning to the ‘edge’.

This is part of a spiritual journey the earth is going through. People are waking up, and slowly we are changing ourselves. For some it may take a year, for others a lifetime, or more.
